>>50 years ago — A hearing regarding a possible boost in milk prices has been set for the Imperial County Courthouse on Jan. 5, it was announced Tuesday. The hearing for the Imperial area was one of the 24 called by the state Department of Agriculture in answer to the request by milk producers who threatened shortages if prices were not boosted.

>>40 years ago — Real Estate Research Corp. has started its survey of the Valley's development opportunities. Edward Leutheser and Wesley T. Chambers, executives of the firm, began the study Monday.

>>30 years ago — Three Heber men were arrested by Imperial police Friday night on a charge of possession of marijuana. The trio was arrested at a house at Sixth and H streets, Imperial, where a package containing about a kilo of marijuana was reportedly found. Police reported they had been working on the case for a month.

>>20 years ago — A shortage of American dollars in Mexicali has caused banks to restrict the sale of the currency but bank officials on the other side of the border say really there is no cause to worry. In fact Calexico Bank of America official Randy Arcienega said the shortage in Mexicali can be easily prevented by Mexicali banks ordering American dollars before the holiday season begins.
