I read your article regarding Calexico City Councilman Gilbert Grijalva's questioning the high price of fuel in the Imperial Valley.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and here we are paying the highest gasoline prices in the country. We're part of the same state as Los Angeles, where gas is selling in the teens (1.15). We are turning cartwheels here when our gas came down to $1.47 a gallon last week (ARCO, regular unleaded)!
The high price of fuel has been looked at by senators Boxer and Feinstein — all to the chagrin of oil companies, and no relief to the consumers. And we have major refineries located within 30 minutes of most of the Bay Area.
There is many a time when I am travelling in the Imperial Valley and fuel is considerably less there than here in the Bay Area. Considerably.
