IVC wraps up COD tourney

PALM DESERT — The Imperial Valley College women's basketball team wrapped up play in the College of the Desert tournament here Sunday with an 80-66 win over Eastern Utah.

Sandra Ramos led IVC with 25 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, six steals and two blocks. Jello Moore added 22 points, nine rebounds and a block and LaToya Jackson chipped in 12 points, five assists and three steals.

On Saturday, IVC lost to host team COD 67-58. Marta Cedeño led the Arabs with 17 points, four steals, three assists and two rebounds. Ramos pitched in 16 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Jackson added 11 points, four assists and three steals.

Led by Ramos' 32 points Friday, the Arabs kicked off their tournament action with an 81-63 victory over Camp Pendelton.

Ramos hit five three-pointers and finished with five assists, five rebounds, two steals and a block. Moore added 13 points, 10 rebounds and two assists and Jenny Burgos contributed 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal.


On Dec. 22 IVC beat San Bernardino Valley College 69-49.

Ramos scored 27 and pulled down 13 rebounds and Melissa Williams added 10 points and eight rebounds. Jackson finished with nine points, six steals and six assists for the Arabs.

IVC (13-5) will host College of Siskiyous at 5 p.m. Jan. 11.
