Recently the city of Imperial Public Library has had some community involvement and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who were involved.
On Dec. 8 we had a successful book sale, and this was in large part due to the efforts of Merlon Kidwell, Kathy Kenway and Amelia Steffens. Thank you for your time and all of your effort.
On Dec. 15 we began the rather large job of painting the outside of the library. Although we were unable to complete the task in one day, a sizable amount of the work was done. For this I wish to thank Mrs. Beeson and the Interact Club of Imperial High School. The Interact members who participated were Andrea Aguirre, Chonlakan Benjasak (Sai), Vanessa Bernal, J. Ricardo De Paula, Anabel Garza, Elizabeth Hall, Jenny Jaime, Stephen Jaime, Gina Nuñez, Luis Serrano, Adaline Soto and Diana Verdugo.
In addition, the Imperial Valley Breakfast Rotary Club has generously agreed to pay for all the paint, rollers, brushes, etc. Carlos Fletes, Gus Galindo, Victor Jaime and Barbara Layaye of the Rotary Club assisted with the painting. Thank you for your support; the library now looks great! The painting was completed by city employees, and I am grateful to them as well.
