Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Kyla Estelle Alsip, 16, of Imperial, who died in an auto accident Friday.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Faith Assembly of God in Imperial. The Rev. Michael Cox of First Southern Baptist Church of Imperial will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Kyla was born Aug. 6, 1985, in El Centro and was raised in Imperial, where she attended schools. She was in her junior year at Imperial High School.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Melvin Alsip; maternal grandfather, Cleo Garrett; and aunt, Freda Taylor.

Survivors include her parents, Estill and Jane Alsip of Imperial; paternal grandmother, Martha Alsip of Imperial; maternal grandmother, Inez Garrett of Imperial; aunt, Billie Bohannan of Imperial; aunts and uncles, Ann and Roy Alsip and Joan and Mahlon Manees, all of Calipatria, and Susan and Elton Cox of Imperial; and uncle, Don Garrett of Imperial.


The family suggests memorials be sent to the Kyla Alsip Scholarship Fund at First Imperial Credit Union.


Services were Saturday in Greenwood for Lometa "Lucky" Gardner, 69, of Santee, who died Dec. 24 in her home.

Burial was in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.

Mrs. Gardner was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Gilbert, Ariz. She graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1951 and kept in touch with many of her classmates. She had attended her high school reunion last year.

Mrs. Gardner was married to George C. Gardner.

Survivors include her son, Donald Gardner of Portland; sisters, Charlene Bridges of Julian and Ozell McDaniels of Charlottesville, Va.; brothers, Gene Langford of Roseville, Leon Gangford of Springfield, Mo., and Leo Langford of Alpine; and two grandchildren.
