Thanks: Neighborhood House Christmas event thanks

January 02, 2002

Calexico Neighborhood House thanks the community for donating toys and other gift articles. Around 500 boys and girls below age 12 had a merrier Christmas when they received their "Gift from the Heart" on Dec. 19, 20 and 21.

The agencies that made this possible are Calexico Neighborhood House, Calexico Border Patrol, Calexico Unified School District, Sutherland and Gerber, Calexico One Stop Employment Service, U.S. Customs, Imperial County Office of Education, Calexico High School Associated Student Body, Imperial Stores and Center for Employment Training.

Also, a Christmas store for kids was put together Dec. 22 and 24 so they could buy Christmas gifts for their loved ones for under $1. These events took place at the Calexico Neighborhood House main office building at 506 4th St. in Calexico.

From the Calexico High School winter ball toys were also donated and distributed to needy children of Mexicali.

Thank you for participating and serving the community. Have a blessed new year.
