CALEXICO — The body of a 25-year-old man was found Wednesday west of here in the All-American Canal where the Westside Main begins.

The man's name is being withheld pending notification of his family, according to county Deputy Coroner Rick Williams, who said it appears the man is from Mexicali based on documents found on his body.

Williams said the body was found about 1 p.m. by a Calexico resident, who then called the Sheriff's Office.

"It appears he's been in the water at least seven to 10 days," Williams said, adding the cause of death is consistent with a drowning at this point of the investigation pending further explanation by an autopsy scheduled for Saturday. "There are no signs of foul play."
