A 24-year-old Brawley women was accused of driving under the influence after allegedly smashing her car into another car on Highway 111 near Brawley on Saturday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Noemi Camargo failed to see an approaching car, driven by Jose Hernandez, 35, of Mexicali after she allegedly tried to pass slower-moving northbound traffic on Highway 111 north of Mead Road near Brawley around 5:10 a.m. Saturday.
After noticing the oncoming car, she tried to swerve back into the northbound lane, according to the CHP.
She didn't make it.
The vehicles collided and came to rest on the west dirt shoulder of the highway.
Neither of the drivers nor their passengers reported injuries. All were wearing seat belts.
Camargo was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The investigation of the collision is ongoing.
