Water study slated for IID

The Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors on Tuesday is scheduled to approve the public release Friday of the draft environmental study for pending transfer of water from the Imperial Valley to San Diego.

The transfer to San Diego would include from 130,000 acre-feet of water yearly to as much as 200,000, and another two quantities of 50,000 acre-feet to the Coachella Valley Water District or the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

The IID board meets in open session at 5 p.m. in the William R. Condit Auditorium in El Centro, 1285 Broadway.

In other business, the board will be asked to approve $650,000 in work on the district's Coachella gas turbine unit No. 4, and adopt a resolution thanking Division 1 Director Andy Horne for his year as board president.

Tuesday's meeting will be the first for Division 4 Director Stella Mendoza as president.
