Central boys and girls get victories

Going with a young team because of injuries, Central High's boys soccer team stuffed visiting Palo Verde in El Centro on Tuesday, winning 6-1.

The Spartans started five freshmen and four sophomores.

Alberto Martinez and Raul Cazares both scored two goals and Abraham Villanueva and Carlos Osuna each added one for the Spartans.

Central jumped on top 80 seconds into the contest, and then put away the game with quick goals at the 25th- and 26th- minute marks of the first period.

Central (1-1 Imperial Valley League) hosts Holtville High at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Girls soccer

Central 5, Palo Verde 0

PALO VERDE — Stormy Morton and Ana Nava both scored two goals in Central Union High's 5-0 win over Palo Verde in Imperial Valley League action here Tuesday.


Rosa Murillo added one goal. The Spartans (1-0-1 IVL) play at Imperial at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
