Jury selection begins in suit against IID

January 09, 2002|By RUDY YNIGUEZ, Staff Writer

Jury selection began today for a trial in a case in which a woman allegedly tripped and fell over a curb on Imperial Irrigation District property and is suing IID.

El Centro resident Carmen Hamrick allegedly tripped over the curb in 1996.

The Superior Court is having a hard time impaneling a jury because of two murder trials under way.

Hamrick's trial has been delayed several times already for various reasons, but it appears the court will continue to call prospective jurors with the expectation of impaneling a jury.
