BRAWLEY — The Imperial County Sheriff's Office broke up a drug lab and arrested two women when investigating a "suspicious" pickup parked near the Del Rio Country Club here this morning.
Deputy Justin Tackett spotted a white pickup parked on Del Rio Road in rural Brawley about 2:50 a.m. and decided to investigate.
What Tackett found was a portable methamphetamine lab in the cab of the truck, said sheriff's Sgt. Manuel Avila.
While the lab was not in use, all the paraphernalia to produce meth was reportedly found in the truck.
Avila said the chemicals to manufacture the drug were not present, but there was residue of methamphetamine found with the paraphernalia.
Two Brawley women were found with the truck. Julie Renteria and Sherry Jackson, both 37, were arrested.
They were being booked into the county jail this morning on suspicion of manufacturing meth. More information about specific counts and their bail were unavailable at presstime.
