I live in Minnesota. I recently heard from a cousin of mine who teaches at an elementary school in the Imperial Valley that she has to purchase her own filing cabinets due to lack of funds for such things.
This concerns me for two reasons: 1) Here in the Midwest, we think of California as an educational trend setter. We're in a huge budget crunch and I'm afraid my governor, Jesse Ventura, will be thrilled to hear funding is such that teachers now need to buy their own supplies (like we don't already.)
And 2) I'm wondering why some organization or business in the Imperial Valley cannot supply the teachers in your area with filing cabinets and other basic teaching materials.
I'm sure hoping Minnesota never gets that bad.
