Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall, 2247 Kelley St. in Ramona, for Michael John Ferrill, 87, of El Centro and Ramona, who died Saturday in Pomerado Hospital in Poway.

Mr. Ferrill was born on March 19, 1914, in Bostonia and later moved to the Imperial Valley. He provided restaurants such as Bob's Ember Glo with his potato and macaroni salads.

Mr. Ferrill enjoyed cooking and being with friends, according to family.

He was preceded in death by his sister Genevieve.

Survivors include his daughters, Nancy of Oregon and Linda and Judy of National City; and sisters, Goldine and MayBelle.


Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in Calexico for Pablo Leon, 69, of Calexico, who died Tuesday in his home. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.


Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Calexico with the Rev. Edmundo Zarate officiating.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Mr. Leon was born July 3, 1932, in Mexicali.

He married Guadalupe Leal in Mexicali on Jan. 29, 1951. He worked as a meat cutter for Fed-Mart in Calexico

Mr. Leon was a wonderful person and will be missed by his family and all who knew him, according to family.

Survivors include his wife, Guadalupe Leon of Calexico; son and daughter-in-law, Pablo Jr. and Elsa Leon of San Diego; grandsons, Alec and Daniel Leon, both of San Diego; granddaughters, Stephanie and Michelle Leon, both of San Diego; and sisters, Alice Mock, Frances Campos, Mary Mah and Julia Ivey.



Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in El Cajon Mortuary, 684 S. Mollison Ave., for Gordon "Jake" Jacobson, 83, of El Cajon, a former Imperial Valley resident who died Jan. 6 in El Cajon.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Lutheran Church, 867 Lincoln Ave. in El Cajon. The Rev. Scott Rische will officiate.

Burial will be in El Cajon Cemetery, 2080 Dehesa Road.

Mr. Jacobson was born Jan. 7, 1918, in Ellendale, Minn.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and lived in the Imperial Valley for 21 years, and was involved in the Imperial Valley chapter of the American Red Cross, Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Jacobson worked as a vice president for Bank of America for 41 years, and was employed in banking for 46 years. He worked with the Boys & Girls Club of El Cajon and the El Cajon Chamber of Commerce

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Jacobson of El Cajon; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mike Ferrari of Pine Valley; sister, Violet H. Jacobson of Waseca, Minn.; and granddaughters, Michelle and Victoria Ferrari.

The family suggests memorials be sent to First Lutheran Church of El Cajon, 867 Lincoln Ave., El Cajon, CA 92020.


Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Apostolic Assembly in Brawley for Noe Hernandez, 20, of Brawley, who died of cancer Friday in Children's Hospital in San Diego.

Pastor Jaime Santos will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mr. Hernandez was born Dec. 14, 1981, in Brawley and was raised in Brawley and attended schools there.

Survivors include his parents, Francisca and Jesus Hernandez of Brawley; sisters, Alejandra Hernandez of Mexicali and Noemi Hernandez of Brawley; brothers, Juan, Felipe and Gabino Hernandez, all of Brawley; and maternal grandparents, Evangelina and Ramon Uvence of Mexicali.
