CALEXICO — Dominic Jacobelli recorded a triple-double to lead the Vincent Memorial High boys basketball to a 67-46 win over Calvary Christian in Citrus League play here Friday.

Jacobelli scored 26 points, had 13 rebounds and 11 assists, followed by Matt Lankford with 20 points, three assists and three rebounds. Luis Solorio added 11 points for the Scots (2-0 CL).

Vincent Memorial will play at Julian at 7 p.m. Jan. 22.

Imperial 76, Palo Verde 55

IMPERIAL — The Imperial High boys basketball team won its Imperial Valley League opener 76-55 over Palo Verde here Friday led by Matt Taylor with 26 points.

Taylor also finished with five rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block. Danny Jones added 19 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks and David Thomas chipped in 11 points for the Tigers (1-0 IVL).


Imperial will next play at Holtville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Boys soccer

BORREGO SPRINGS — The Imperial High boys soccer team began Desert Mountain League play with a 4-2 victory over Borrego Springs here Friday.

Aurelio Alonzo, Paul Rivas, Luis Moreno and Anthony Guardado each scored goals for Imperial. Vincent Silva added two assists for the Tigers (1-0 DML).

Imperial will next host Guajome Park at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Southwest 1, Palm Desert 0

Sergio Rosales scored the Southwest High boys soccer team's lone goal in its 1-0 win over Palm Desert in El Centro on Friday.

Jorge Renteria dished out the assist for Southwest.

The Eagles will next play at Palo Verde at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Girls soccer

BRAWLEY — The Brawley Union High girls soccer team dropped its first Imperial Valley League game of the year falling 2-0 to Palo Verde here Friday.

Brawley (2-1 IVL) will host Imperial at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
