Driver of tractor-trailer rig sought by CHP

BRAWLEY — The California Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who fled the scene of an accident early Friday west of here that left two El Centro residents with minor injuries.

Highway Patrol Officer Scott Oberg says the driver of a tractor-trailer rig was traveling south on Forrester Road near Johnson Road when the truck drifted into the path of a pickup heading north, sideswiping that vehicle.

Oberg said witnesses at the scene claimed after the accident the driver of the tractor-trailer rig fled the scene when another vehicle arrived to pick the driver up.

Driver David Silva, 46, and his passenger, Victor Silva, 25, received minor injuries and were transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley.

Information on their conditions was not available by presstime Saturday.

It also wasn't known by presstime if the Highway Patrol had apprehended the hit-and-run driver.
