A 32-year-old Calexico man was killed Sunday when his pickup rolled while he was moving from Interstate 8 to Highway 111.
Carlos Javier Rodriguez was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene, according to a county Coroner's Office investigator.
Rodriguez was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the California Highway Patrol. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
The accident occurred at 3:20 a.m. as Rodriguez's pickup was moving from eastbound I-8 to Highway 111. Highway Patrol officials reported Rodriguez's vehicle drifted off the north edge of the road. When he attempted to swerve back onto the road, his truck overturned.
Coroner's investigators this morning speculated the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. A specific cause of death will not be released until after an autopsy Tuesday.
