The Imperial Valley Soccer League met Monday night to announce new board members and plans for the upcoming season in the under-19 youth, women's and men's leagues.

During a meeting last week a new league president, Ramon Lopez, took office, replacing Rafael Contreras. The new secretary is Sergio Estrada. Alex Rodriguez remains as vice president.

During the meeting Monday, board members talked about the upcoming season and where the games are likely to be played.

Lopez said league officials will be meeting with El Centro officials at 5:30 p.m. Thursday to discuss the time slots given to the soccer league and other recreational sports such as softball and baseball.

Lopez said once the schedule has been approved the leagues can start their seasons.

He said the games are likely to be scheduled for Swarthout and Sunflower parks in El Centro and at a new field in Calexico.

He also told those who attended that the registration fee for each team is $75 plus $15 per player, with a minimum of 12 players per team. However, each team must have at least 16 players registered by mid-season. Each team must pay a fee of $20 for referee costs for each game.

The league will have a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at 649 Woodward Ave. in El Centro. Anyone interested in more information is welcome to attend.
