BRAWLEY — A 22-year-old Brawley resident died at home this morning from injuries sustained in a single-car accident Wednesday night only hours after being released from the hospital.

Brawley police Lt. John Myers said Jose Luis Ulloa was driving on River Road about 10:17 p.m. Wednesday and was about to make a turn on 11th Street when he failed to negotiate the turn and his car collided with a tree.

Police think Ulloa suffered head and chest injuries. A 16-year-old boy was in the passenger seat of the vehicle. The juvenile did not suffer serious injuries. The juvenile was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center.

Myers said Ulloa was treated at Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley and was sent home.

Myers said emergency crews were called around 3:45 this morning to Ulloa's residence in the 600 block of North 11th Street.
