The Imperial County Historical Society will be hosting the first lecture in its 2002 lecture series Friday, kicking off the season with a program about the New River.
The speaker will be Marie Barrett of the Citizens Congressional Task Force. She will be presenting a program on the ongoing efforts to clean up the New River, one of the most polluted waterways in North America.
Tickets for the event are $6 and include a light supper.
Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the lecture at 6:30 p.m.
