New employee joins Swain, Kennerson & Oswalt

De De Guillory-Chavez recently joined the staff of Swain, Kennerson & Oswalt, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants of El Centro.

Guillory-Chavez, daughter of Diane Skellett of Yuma, moved to the Imperial Valley in 1990.

Guillory-Chavez, a CPA candidate, is awaiting the results of the uniform certified public accountant's examination.

As an enrolled agent, she has previously passed a rigorous examination of tax law, policy and procedures and has represented numerous Imperial Valley taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service.

Guillory-Chavez's responsibilities with Swain, Kennerson & Oswalt will include providing tax planning and compliance services to the firm's small business clients. She also will head the firm's QuickBooks consulting section, formed to provide intensive support services to small businesses using or adopting QuickBooks accounting software.

Guillory-Chavez attended Imperial Valley College, graduating with an associate's degree in business administration in 1995. While attending IVC, Guillory-Chavez received a scholarship from San Diego Gas & Electric and was named "economics scholar of the year."


She later matriculated to San Diego State University, graduating in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. While attending SDSU, Guillory-Chavez was active in student affairs as a member of the Student Accounting Society and as a volunteer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

While attending IVC and SDSU, Guillory-Chavez remained active in the local community, serving as volunteer secretary and president of the fund-raising committee of the Imperial Valley Food Bank and later as a member of the organization's staff.
