BRAWLEY — Imperial County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a 42-year-old man for possession of 10 grams of methamphetamine.

Sheriff's Sgt. Manuel Avila said deputies stopped Allan Gean Harbert, 42, about 2 p.m. in front of his residence in the 500 block of Cady Road north of Brawley for a mechanical traffic violation.

Harbert was on probation for a previous conviction, so authorities had the right to search him and his residence without a warrant.

Deputies found the 10 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle. Deputies then searched his residence and found numerous weapons, which he was not allowed to possess as a probationer. A couple of the weapons were modified, which rendered the firearms illegal. A silencer also was found in the home.

Deputies found a liquid in the freezer thought to be methamphetamine. It was sent to a laboratory to determine its substance.

During the search, Harbert's girlfriend, Suzanna Margaret Fleagle, 38, drove up in her vehicle. Avila said deputies put her in the back of a patrol car for safety reasons.

Avila said when deputies removed her from the patrol vehicle a small amount of methamphetamine was left on the seat.

Harbert was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of illegal weapons and possession of a silencer.

Fleagle was arrested for possession of methamphetamine but more charges might be added.

An employee at the county jail said this morning that Fleagle posted bail while Harbert was still in jail with bail set at $20,000.
