The first candidate for the 2002 produce queen is Jillian Ochoa of El Centro.
The daughter of Cynthia Rivera, Ochoa is sponsored by Rogers & Rogers Toyota Nissan, where she is employed. She is enrolled at Imperial Valley College with plans to become a registered nurse. She enjoys reading, ceramics and in-line skating.
The produce queen will be crowned during the Produce Ball March 16 at the Barbara Worth Golf Resort near Holtville. Money raised by queen candidates will be used for scholarships for Imperial County students. The Produce Ball has provided more than $350,000 in scholarships for local youths.
