American Sand Association joining off-road groups at event to benefit MD

January 31, 2002

The American Sand Association will join hundreds of off-road groups at the Off-Road for Hope IV Muscular Dystrophy Association benefit Friday through Sunday at Ocotillo Wells.

Participation in the event has grown steadily since its beginning in 1999, when 230 entries raised $18,000. By 2001 more than 800 entries garnered $55,000 for MDA and organizers hope this year's event will raise even more.

The American Sand Association is a grass-roots, non-profit organization with about 20,000 members dedicated to preserving the use of public lands for public use, improving off-highway safety and promoting responsible land use. The association is volunteer-run, has no paid staff and relies on the financial support of off-highway vehicle enthusiasts and small businesses.

Additional information may be found on the association's Web site, www.GlamisOnLine.org
