The Imperial Valley Soccer League will not be scheduling any games for this week but league officials are positive that next week the first week of play will start.

During a meeting Monday, league officials announced that not enough teams had registered early enough for there to be play this week.

League president Ramon Lopez said a few teams have to register with the league so the league can associate itself with California Soccer Association.

Once the league is associated with CSA, the city of El Centro will allow it to utilize city soccer fields.

During the meeting Monday the new teams that registered were Atlas, Santos, Panteras, Boca Juniors and Morelia. Lopez said that is enough teams to associate the league with the CSA.

He said he will send paperwork today.

The rest of the teams that want to register must do so by Friday.

In other league business…

The league might be utilizing new referees.

Angel Espino from the Colegio Urbano de Arbitros de Mexicali (Urban School of Referees of Mexicali) told the board he would be interested in providing refereeing services this season.

Last season's referees were paid $22.50 per game per team. This same fee is set for this year.
