Earth Day 2002 poster contest

Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program Outdoor School has announced this year's Earth Day poster contest. The theme for the day and contest is "Recycling: It's good for all of us."

Any fourth-, fifth- or sixth-grade student enrolled in Imperial County schools may enter.

Design must be submitted on a 12- by 18-inch white construction paper using any medium. Poster designs should not use copyrighted characters, photographs, magazine or newspaper illustrations as part of the design. Posters should be the original work of the student.

Stenciled letters, preprinted manufactured stick-on letters or tracing of letters may be used as part of the poster design.

Attach a separate piece of paper with the entry with the student's name, grade, teacher and school name, address and phone number.

Judging will be 50 percent originality and adherence to theme, 25 percent suitability for billboard use and 25 percent use of color. Prize for first place is $100, second place is $50 and third place is $25.

All posters must be submitted to IVROP Outdoor School by Feb. 28. Call to pre-register participation in the contest at 312-6470.
