Brawley man, 38, arrested for allegedly battering daughter, 17

BRAWLEY — Police here arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly hitting his 17-year-old daughter.

Brawley police Lt. John Myers said shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday police responded to a residence in the 600 block of North Imperial Avenue regarding a family dispute.

Upon arrival, police saw the girl bleeding from her nose and mouth. She was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley for treatment.

The girl stated to police her father had hit her in the face several times. Her father, Ines Arias Rios, was not home when police arrived but arrived a short while later.

Myers said Arias admitted to police he had slapped his daughter once. Witnesses told police Arias hit his daughter several times in the head.

Arias was arrested for willful cruelty to a child and was being held today in the county jail with bail set at $35,000.
