The Navy's flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels, will stage its first air show of the 2002 season March 9 at Naval Air Facility El Centro.
NAF El Centro has been the winter training ground for the Blue Angels since 1964 and has traditionally hosted the first air show of the year. This year marks NAF El Centro's 32nd air show.
The public is invited to attend the action-packed "Defenders of Freedom"-themed air show.
A host of other civilian and military aerobatics performers are scheduled to perform as well. Detailed information on performers will be released at a later date.
Last year more than 40,000 spectators enjoyed the performance and this year the number is expected to increase.
Concession sales will be available and static displays will be on hand.
The air show is free to the public with free parking available.
Lawn chairs are permitted.
Weapons are not allowed and vehicles will be subject to search.
