I.V. Blood Services hosts drives Friday, Saturday in E.C., Imperial

Imperial Valley Blood Services will be holding two open-to-the-public blood drives Friday and Saturday in El Centro and Imperial.

On Friday, the first drive will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sizzler Restaurant, 707 N. Imperial Ave. in El Centro. Anyone who hasn't donated since Dec. 28 can give again.

All donors will receive a free salad bar, a beverage coupon and T-shirt.

On Saturday, IVBS will be joining with Moose Lodge 1033, Graphic X-Press and Spreckels Sugar employees for a blood drive and a tri-tip barbecue to benefit Maya Silva, a a young leukemia patient from Holtville.

The drive and barbecue will be from noon to 4 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 2351 Highway 86 in Imperial.

The cost of barbecue plates is $7 and blood donors may give blood in Marya's name to replace blood she has used.


There is a serious shortage of "O" positive and "O" negative but all blood types are needed.

All donors will received the "United We Stand" American flag T-shirt.
