'Dogs, Spartans, Eagles sending 16 to Masters

Six Calexico High wrestlers will advance to this weekend's CIF Masters meet after placing in the top six at the CIF San Diego Section Division II Tournament Saturday in El Cajon.

Aaron Barrios led the Bulldogs with a second-place finish at 142 pounds. Other Calexico wrestlers placing included Harry Ramirez (third, 154 pounds), Eddie Rodriguez (fourth, 132), Eddie Garcia, (sixth, 105), Estevan Jimenez (sixth, 114) and Edgar Ugarte (sixth, heavyweight). Brandon Quintero (seventh, 191) advanced as an alternate.

Six Central Union High wrestlers advanced to the CIF Masters meet. They placed in the top six at the CIF San Diego Section Division III Tournament on Saturday at Ramona High.

Marcos Navarro placed second at 160 pounds and Brent Hart was second in the heavyweight division. Other Spartans advancing include Mario Luna (third, 103 pounds), Victor Sanchez (fourth, 112), Cameron Lechner (fifth, 140) and Adrian Arreola (sixth, 119). Alternates for the Masters tourney include Kyle Ott (seventh, 130) and Jonathan Creiglow (seventh, 171).

Advancing to the Masters for Southwest High were 154-pounder Eddie Conner, who took second place, Chris Gonzales at 189 pounds, who took second, 130-pounder Gabriel Sandoval, who took third, and Raul Gradillas, who took fourth at 215 pounds.
