The required listing of all political expenditures and contributions by Calexico candidates have been filed with one notable exception. Why is there one missing?
The latest campaign has seen a new all-time high in money spent by a candidate. The public and voters in particular are being denied their legal right to know who are the big-money contributors. Who is trying to buy political influence in a big way? Disclosure is the protection the law provides. Believe it or not, the penalty for nondisclosure is a mere $10 a day.
In spite of the exaggerated campaign expenses of this one candidate, not a single other candidate for any office has had the courage to challenge this gross contempt of campaign disclosure compliance. They are all a bunch of wimps for their implicit acquiescence. Is there not even one honest candidate who will demand observance of the disclosure requirement?
