Voice: Vote no on Prop. 40

March 03, 2002

Proposition 40 is too good to be true. It promises clean air and water, safe neighborhood parks and … a sunrise every morning. But the hidden agenda is to keep farmers from making improvements on their land. It may even prevent irrigation if there are endangered bugs and rodents around.

Our rural areas would be turned into a conservation park in which farmers cannot farm and real estate developers could not build homes. Higher food and housing prices will be indirect costs. Voting no means we let existing zoning regulations govern land use.
