On the boys side, Norwegian exchange student Petter Malvick set a school record and recorded a CIF consideration time in the 500-meter freestyle (6:09.13). He also won the 200 freestyle in 2:18.50.
Robbie Overstreet picked up individual wins in the 50 freestyle (28.37) and the 100 freestyle in 1:08.74.
Ethan Schoch won the 200 individual medley in 3:08.75 and the 100 breaststroke (1:27). Jeremy Schmidt won the 100 butterfly in 1:27.26.
Schoch, Overstreet and Malvick teamed with Bradley Huber to win the 200 medley relay in 2:14.43.
Overstreet, Malvick and Schmidt hooked up with Tim Dowden to win the 200 freestyle relay in 2:06.96.
Schmidt, Schoch and Dowden teamed with Mike Simms to win the 400 freestyle relay in 5:07.39.
Brawley will swim at Serra High School in San Diego at 3 p.m. March 15.
IVC 4, Southwestern 1
CHULA VISTA — On the strength of a Maria Hansen-Perez three-hitter, the Imperial Valley College softball team improved to 3-2 in the Pacific Coast Conference with a 4-1 win over Southwestern here Wednesday.
Hansen-Perez pitched a complete game and struck out seven. She went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, an RBI and a run.
Also contributing for the Arabs (12-8 overall) were Adela Green with two runs and Mercy Gonzalez with a run. Christina Santos finished 1-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt.
IVC hosts San Diego City College at 3 p.m. Monday.
Palm Desert 3, Central 0
The Central Union High girls softball team got its season off on the wrong foot as it fell 3-0 to Palm Desert in El Centro on Wednesday.
Taking the loss on the mound for Central was Nikki Carrion, who went 4 2/3 innings and gave up five hits, two walks and struck out five.
Mariza Guzman and Clarissa Maldonado recorded the only hits for the Spartans.
Central will play at Clairemont in the Montgomery tournament at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Calipatria 14, Antelope 13
CALIPATRIA — The Calipatria High softball team outlasted Antelope High of Wellton, Ariz., here Wednesday, winning it 14-13.
Leading the Calipatria offense was Griselda Aceves, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.
The Hornets (3-0) host Holtville at 3:15 today.
