El Centro police detectives arrested a suspect Wednesday for an armed robbery committed in November.

Lt. Tim Blankenship said detectives Luis Hernandez and Angie Cuevas arrested Roy Argil Mendivel, 41, of El Centro with the help of Mendivel's parole officer.

Detectives think Mendivel and another suspect used a handgun to rob the El Rancho Grande bar, 445 E. Main St., in El Centro on Nov. 29.

Blankenship said detectives, after investigation, put out an arrest warrant for Mendivel, who was on parole.

Blankenship said Mendivel's parole officer heard of Mendivel's arrest warrant and asked Mendivel to come to the parole office in El Centro.

Upon Mendivel's arrival his parole officer called police, who arrested Mendivel at the parole office Wednesday morning.

Blankenship would not comment on the other suspect but stated the case is still under investigation.

Mendivel was being held at county jail today with bail set at $20,000.
