Voice: Drunk, doped up people everywhere, not just dunes

March 10, 2002

I read this paper often (online) to find out what is happening with Glamis. I just finished reading a letter calling us dunes people a bunch of drunk, doped-up misfits.

I can tell you that while many people do get drunk and doped up, it is no different then being in a city of 200,000 people. How many people in a city that size are getting drunk, etc?

I agree with the writer in that we should pay for the use of the dunes and the money should be used for upkeep and law enforcement. I do pay the fee required and would gladly pay more then asked.

The majority of the people who go out to have fun in the dunes are safty-minded and respectable people.

I am tired of people who think that because Thanksgiving was out of hand, we should close the dunes down. Look around everyone … stuff happens everywhere. Maybe we should lock everyone up and throw away the keys. … Give me a break.
