HOLTVILLE — A 27-year-old man hung himself in his home here Tuesday two weeks after his wife killed herself, said Sgt. Rick Macken of the county Coroner's Office.

The man, Juan Carlos Castro, used a storage strap to hang himself inside his home. His body was found by his sister and authorities were called to the scene in the 1200 block of E Street at 12:45 this morning.

Macken said Castro had been dead for several hours when he was found. His sister went to his home after Castro did not show up for work and his boss called family to check on him.

Macken said Castro left a videotaped suicide message in which he stated he was despondent over the loss of his wife.

Rosio Castro, 21, shot herself in the head on Feb. 26.

The Castros were the parents of an 18-month-old child. Macken said Child Protective Services will become involved in the placing of the child.

He added the child likely will be placed with family.

The child was with other members of the family when Castro hung himself.
