Former state Assembly candidate Ray Saucedo asked the county Board of Supervisors to investigate what appeared to be "out-of-control" polling violations at the Hotel De Anza in Calexico.

Saucedo addressed the board Tuesday, saying he went to different polling places in the county on election day and saw problems in Calexico.

People handing out political voting information did not stay 100 feet from the polls, in violation of election rules, he said.

"But there are no rules in Calexico," Saucedo said.

The board also:

· approved a $87,400 contract with Andy Hoyt General Engineering Inc. of Holtville to clean waterlines at the Gateway of the Americas development;

· approved, as the Country Club Sewer District board, giving $7,858, to the city of Holtville for maintenance and operation of the Country Club lift station;

· established an abandoned vehicle cleanup plan;

· approved $17,000 for indigent burials in circumstances where cremation may be unacceptable for religious reasons;

· approved Workforce Investment Board training contracts;

· appointed Gordon Jongeward of Brawley to the WIB as a private sector representative.
