GENEVIEVE ALLEN

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Genevieve Allen, 78, of El Centro, who died Wednesday in her home.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro. Pastor Walter Colace of Christ Community Church of El Centro will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mrs. Allen was born March 22, 1923, in Del Rio, Texas. She married Henry Allen in Yuma on Nov. 18, 1945, who preceded her in death on July 18, 1990.

The Allens owned and operated Hank's Radiator Service and Jet Star Car Wash for many years.

Before coming to California, Mrs. Allen worked as a teletypist for Dwight D. Eisenhower at Fort Sam Houston.

After arriving in California, she worked as a secretary for Dixie Ranches, as a case worker for the Imperial County Welfare Department and as a secretary for the state Department of Mental Health.

She was a member of First Assembly of God of El Centro.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, David and Jeannie West; daughter, Candy Allen; granddaughters and spouses, Lynne and Jim Landry of San Diego and Gynnette and George Watson of Lemoore; granddaughters, Melissa West and Liz Valdez, both of El Centro; great-grandchildren, Kaytlynne West and Jordan Landry, both of San Diego, and Karah Watson of Lemoore; sisters, Cota Cadena of Chicago, and Nadine Sigala of Del Rio, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, 400 S. 8th St., El Centro, CA 92243.

JUAN CARLOS CASTRO

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Holtville for Juan Carlos Castro, 27, of Holtville, who died Wednesday in his home.

A determination of the cause of death is pending investigation.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Holtville. The Rev. Cecilio Moraga will officiate.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Mr. Castro was born Oct. 31, 1974, in El Centro and was raised in Holtville.

He attended schools in El Centro and Holtville and graduated from Holtville High School in 1993, where he attended ROP classes in law enforcement and had served as lieutenant on the color guard.

Mr. Castro worked in security at various locations in the Imperial Valley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rocio Castro, on Feb. 26.

Survivors include his daughter, Misty Nicole Castro of Holtville; mother, Rosa Manriquez of Holtville; father and stepmother Arthur and Martha Castro of Imperial; brothers, Arthur Anthony Castro of El Centro and Juan de Dios Manriquez of Holtville; sister, Rosa Marina Manriquez of Holtville; step-brother, Joaquin Lira of Imperial; and maternal grandmother, Rosa Miller of Holtville.

LAWRENCE C. HISEL

Private memorial services were Tuesday in Green Acres Cemetery in Bloomington for Lawrence C. Hisel, 65, of Fontana, a longtime El Centro resident who died March 8 in his home.

His remains were cremated.

Mr. Hisel was born March 18, 1936, in El Centro.

He married Billie Joan Hisel in Yuma in 1956. He worked in pest control for many years and then as a foreman in agriculture.

Mr. Hisel was preceded in death by his children, Denise, Jeffrey and Dolly Hisel; and sisters, Wanda and Loree.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Joan Hisel of Fontana; son, Larry D. Hisel of Montclair; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Nick Wendell of Imperial; grandchildren, Dustin Hisel and Matthew, Robert and Marzia Wendell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Trinidad Hisel of Stockton, Kenny and Nancy Hisel of Salem, Ore., and Huston and Maria Hisel of Calipatria; brother, Johnny Hisel of Calipatria; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gynita and Burl Klein of Clearlake, Carlita and Alton Metcalf of Lakehead, Juanita and Jerry Braxmeyer of Madera and Anita and Luis Flores of Calipatria; and sisters, Olga Hisel of Calipatria and Billie Farnsworth of Oceanside.

BENJAMIN R. RUBIN

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro for Benjamin R. Rubin, 68, of Holtville, who died Monday in his home.

Pastor Alan Deinert of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Holtville will officiate.

Mr. Rubin was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Holtville, where he was raised and attended schools.

He was a Korean War veteran.

Mr. Rubin married Jane Veneman in Holtville on Dec. 5, 1964. He was involved in farming until his retirement because of a disability.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Swiss Club of Imperial Valley.

He was preceded in death by his brother Leslie Rubin.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Rubin of Holtville; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Dina Rubin of Holtville; daughters and sons-in-law, Marianne and Brad Casady of La Grande, Ore., Joan and Kenneth Contreras of Temecula and Peggy and Jason Maston of Spotsylvania, Va.; grandchildren, Aslynn, Allynee and Addyson Rubin, all of Holtville, and Kaity and Ellison Maston, both of Spotsylvania, and Connor Contreras of Temecula; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Katherine Rubin, John and Sadie Rubin and Robert and Jean Rubin, all of Holtville, and Louie and Catherine Rubin of Chino.
