A man arrested in January was deported Thursday to Mexico, where he was wanted for questioning in the death of his wife.
Daniel Duran Rodriguez, age unknown, was arrested Jan. 15 by Border Patrol agents for allegedly entering the United States illegally.
During his processing, he allegedly told agents he had shot his wife in Mexicali, according to a Border Patrol press release.
That information was provided to Mexico law enforcement agents, who confirmed Duran Rodriguez was sought for questioning in the woman's death.
The woman's name has not been released.
Meanwhile, Duran Rodriguez sought political asylum in this country but was ordered deported Thursday.
The deportation brings to nine the number of people who have been deported to Mexican officials, five of whom are accused of murder.
