BRAWLEY — The City Council here approved a final map for the Valle Grande subdivision, which will bring construction of 34 single-family homes to the city.

The homes are planned for the east side of the city between Best Road and North Eastern Avenue and between Highway 78 and C Street.

The final map was approved by the council Tuesday night upon the approval of irrevocable standby letters of credit and a set-aside letter for offsite improvements from Valley Independent Bank.

The developer is LLR Development of El Centro.

· The council approved a letter to the Area Agency on Aging regarding the splitting of a grant and the opening of an adult day health-care center in Holtville.

Bob O'Brien of the Day-Out adult day health-care center asked the council to write a letter to the Area Agency on Aging asking it to review both a proposed division of Imperial County Alzheimer's grant money and the opening of an adult day care center in Holtville.

Day-Out centers currently are in Brawley, El Centro and Calexico, and O'Brien thinks if one opens in Holtville, it will affect the services provided by the centers in those cities. Also, he said, dividing the grant will limit the resources available to the centers in those cities.

The Area Agency on Aging will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday to vote on the issue.
