March 22, 2002

I would like to express my appreciation for the executive committee of the Imperial County Local Child Care Planning Council:

Fonda Miller, IVC instructor of consumer education and family studies; Susan Carlton-Bahm, SELPA program specialist; Norah Sanchez, director, CUI Region IX Head Start; Berta Franco, executive director, United Families, Inc.; Jose Martinez, administrator, RCOE Migrant Head Start program; Becky Green, IVC director of consumer education and family studies; Dana Lovelace, Imperial & San Diego County child care advocate; Mary Shinn, program manager, adolescent and family life program; Sue Tally, director, child development services.

This group of dedicated individuals has put in untold time and effort in the development and implementation of the professional development and retention stipend program.

The intent of this stipend program is to increase the quality of child care and assist programs in improving the retention of qualified staff by providing stipends to early childhood educators employed in state-subsidized early-care and education programs in Imperial County.
