with loaded gun

A tense situation Saturday afternoon in El Centro was resolved safely when residents of Pico Road disarmed a woman brandishing a loaded .38 caliber handgun.

According to Sgt. Jerrold Novak of the El Centro Police Department, 19-year-old Monica Macias of El Centro went to the house of a resident on Pico Road to accuse him of stealing property from her residence.

During the altercation, Macias is alleged to have pointed the loaded gun at the victim, who denied having knowledge of her missing property.

Macias was disarmed by onlookers and held until police arrived.

She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and being in possession of a loaded firearm. She was booked into the county jail with her bail set at $25,000. She remained in custody Saturday evening.
