Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Seaside Baptist Church, Fourth and H streets in Bombay Beach, for Michael Warren Patterson, 30, of Bombay Beach, who died of aggressive non-Hodgkins lymphoma March 11 in El Cajon.

Pastor Tom Miller of Seaside Baptist Church will officiate.

Mr. Patterson was born in La Mirada. He attended Grace Smith Elementary School in Niland and graduated from Calipatria High School with honors in 1989, where he was a representative of Boys State his senior year.

He worked as a service technician for Sears in El Centro and El Cajon. He also taught Bible study at Seaside Baptist Church prior moving to El Cajon in 1999, where he met his fiancée, Faye Mikalson.

Mr. Patterson was a member of the San Diego County Sports Committee, District 38.

He enjoyed off-road racing and was an off-road endurance world-record champion, according to family. He also scored and officiated at "Thunder in the Valley" at the Imperial Valley Expo, according to family.


Survivors include his companion, Faye Mikalson; parents, Robert and Jean Patterson of Bombay Beach; brother, Robert Patterson III; and grandparents, Elsie Patterson and Alice and Warren Craig.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Seaside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 69, Niland, CA 92257.


Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido for Evelyn K. Jones, 76, a longtime El Centro resident who died Thursday in Restful Homes in Vista.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Hill Cemetery in Escondido.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Faith Assembly of God in Imperial

Mrs. Jones was born July 9, 1925, in Allen County near Scottsville, Ky. She came to California in 1943, settling in El Centro for more than 50 years.

She married Leslie D. Jones on Dec. 24, 1944. She worked at the downtown El Centro Safeway and then at Sears, from which she retired after 26 years.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Joann, and brother Junior.

Survivors include her husband, Leslie D. Jones of El Centro; son, Timothy B. Jones of El Centro; daughter, Alesia L. Addesso of San Diego; sister, Polly Ann Pedigo of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren, three stepchildren, one stepgreat-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
