>>30 years ago — Squads of 20 specially trained men fanned out from the California Mid-Winter Fairgrounds intent on entering every back yard in Imperial County to vaccinate all poultry against Asiatic Newcastle disease. Although there's no evidence of the disease in the country, health authorities are vaccinating in an effort to set up an immunity buffer to protect Arizona.
