>>50 years ago — The Imperial County Bar Association has gone on record favoring a United States constitutional amendment that would provided that the U.S. not be bound to a United Nations treaty that conflicts with any provision of the U.S. Constitution.

>>40 years ago — An opposition "talkathon" lasting three hours and 20 minutes was an anticlimax when the Calexico City Council, conducting a public hearing on the Imperial Avenue Redevelopment Project, voted that it would take the matter under advisement until its meeting April 3.

>>30 years ago — The rising waters of the Salton Sea — its surface is up to 230 feet below sea level as of March 20 for a week gain of one-10th of an inch — are bringing action on the part of the Imperial Irrigation District to reverse the trend.

>>20 years ago — The Bol-2000, a new 30-lane bowling alley in the Mexicali Civic Center, is opening next month with a special invitation going to Imperial Valley keglers. Bol-2000 officials hope to include Valley men and women in league and individual competition.
