Police search for Imperial man

Police are searching for a 25-year-old Imperial resident thought to be responsible for an armed robbery of an El Centro residence Sunday.

El Centro police Lt. Tim Blankenship said today police are searching for Miguel Angel Ortiz. Police think Ortiz broke into a residence on the 1700 block of Euclid Avenue about 9 p.m.

Inside was a female resident who was awakened by Ortiz. Ortiz, allegedly carrying a knife, tied up the victim with a cable wire and proceeded to rob the residence, said Blankenship

He said the woman's son arrived as Ortiz was searching through the kitchen and living room. The son chased Ortiz out of the residence but was unable to catch him.

Blankenship said the son and Ortiz are acquaintances. Blankenship added Ortiz is wanted for armed robbery, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping.

Police are encouraging anyone with information on Ortiz to contact police at 352-2111.
