April 02, 2002|STAFF REPORT

A day of "High Adventure in the Valley with Girl Scouts" brought 178 local girls age 5 to 18 to Sunbeam Lake in Seeley on March 23.

Adults from San Diego and the Imperial Valley with members of the Rangi Ya Giza fraternity of Redlands University volunteered their time to allow Girl Scout leaders to enjoy activities with their troops.

Girls rotated into five different events of their choosing. The events available were: canoe, archery, rock-climbing wall, challenge course, tent pitching, baking in a box oven, making dream catchers and weaving. The day began and ended with a flag ceremony.

Girls received a patch and met some of the requirements toward some of their other badges.
