Inmate escapes from county jail

Imperial County Sheriff's Office deputies were on the lookout today for an escaped county jail inmate.

Few details about the case were available as of presstime this morning.

According to sheriff's logs, Travis Russell Collier, 36, of Westmorland escaped during a work detail in El Centro. He was last seen by authorities around 1:30 p.m. Monday.

According to the logs, he is a white male, about 5 feet 9 inches, 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a green T-shirt and faded blue and white stripped pants. The clothing is property of the county jail.

A spokeswoman from the county jail said Collier was in jail for a probation violation.

Information about whether Collier is considered dangerous was unavailable.
