HECTOR FERNANDO ESQUER

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in Calexico for Hector Fernando Esquer, 37, of Calexico, who died in an automobile accident Monday in Holtville. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Calexico. The Rev. Gerardo Fernandez will officiate.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Mr. Esquer was born Dec. 27, 1964, in Mexicali and attended schools in Calexico

He excelled in boxing, according to his family.

Mr. Esquer will be remembered and missed by his family and friends, according to family,

Survivors include his parents, Hector and Connie Esquer of Calexico; children, Carla, Frank and Hector F. Esquer Jr., all of Calexico; brother, Jerry Esquer of Lemon Grove; sisters, Cynthia and  Mariselda Esquer, both of Calexico; and Lupe H. Esquer of Fontana; ex-wife, Mayra Lopez of Calexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.

JOAQUIN GARCIA

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Joaquin Garcia, 49, of Calexico, who died in an automobile accident Monday in Holtville. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in El Centro. The Rev. Jaime Escobedo will officiate.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Mr. Garcia was born Aug. 16, 1952, in Mexicali.

He married Cecilia Hernandez.

Mr. Garcia enjoyed being with his family and playing slot machines. He will be missed by all who knew him, according to family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Modesto Garcia.

Survivors include his mother, Maria Belen Garcia of Calexico; wife, Cecilia Garcia of Calexico; children, Alonso, Joaquin Jr., Misty L., Jackiline and Eric Garcia, all of Calexico; brothers, Felipe Garcia of Lemoore and Mario Garcia of Calexico; sisters, Rosalinda Chavez, Hilda Garcia and Leticia Cantu, all of Calexico, Sofia Garcia of Heber and Maria Luisa Chavez of El Centro; daughter-in-law, Oralia Garcia of Calexico; son-in-law, Raul Garcia of Calexico; and four grandchildren.

GILBERTO R. CASTA--EDA

Visitation will be from  6 to 9 tonight in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Gilberto R. Castañeda, 80, of Brawley, who died Monday in San Diego. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Brawley. The Revs. Roque Vano of St. Margaret Mary and Ben Davison of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, both of Brawley, will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mr. Castañeda was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Brawley, where he was raised and attended Barbara Worth Jr. High School.

He married Elpidia Palomino in Brawley on July 7, 1940.

Mr. Castañeda served in the U.S Army and worked as a truck driver for R.T. Pinner and Sons for more than 27 years.

He was a member of St. Margaret Mary and Sacred Hearth catholic churches and The Knights of Columbus.

According to his family, he would help anyone in time of need and enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Emma Arvizu; son Edward Castañeda in 1970; brother Juan R. Castañeda in 1995; and sisters, Celia Noriega in 1988 and Rachel C. Godinez in 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Elpidia Castañeda of Brawley; sons and daughters-in-law, Gilbert Jr. and Josefina Castañeda of Tucson, Edmundo and Cynthia Castañeda of Riverside and Mario and Angela Castañeda, Raymundo and Luisa Castañeda and Ruben and Rebecca Castañeda, all of Brawley; daughters, Marina, Mary Ellen and Maria Dolores Castañeda, all of Brawley;  brothers, Dolores Castañeda of Brawley and Alfredo Castañeda of Imperial; and 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
