Calexico chamber raffle Friday

CALEXICO — Someone will win $10,000 Friday night when the Calexico Chamber of Commerce announces the winner of its annual raffle.

The drawing will be at 8:30 p.m. in the Community Center at 707 Dool Ave.

There are still a few $200 raffle tickets available, according to the chamber.

Before the drawing, the chamber will provide a dinner for anxious ticket-holders. Dinner starts at 7:30 p.m.

After the drawing, the chamber will sponsor an evening of bingo.

Including the $10,000 grand prize, door prizes and bingo jackpots, the chamber will give away more than $14,000.

Host families sought

Would you be interested in hosting a foreign exchange student? Danielle Grijalva, area representative for the Center for Cultural Interchange, is informing families about the opportunity to become a host family.

High school students from Europe, South America and Asia are anxious to teach us about countries different from our own and learn more about our culture, Grijalva said.

Grijalva will be in the Imperial Valley on Saturday and Sunday meeting with prospective host families and encourages anyone interested in opening their homes to these students to contact her at 414-9724.
